Bonnie was a realtor with ReMax Unlimited. She was a member of the Madison County Board of Realtors, LBar Association, and the National Association of Realtors. She was a member of the Million Dollar Club and she had a deep love of her profession of selling real estate, especially when it came to getting someone in their first home, and building those lasting relationships. On April 13, 2015 at the age of 92, Elizabeth BB Billings went home to be with her Lord and Savior following a short illness. She was born in College Hill, KY, a daughter of the late Sudie Lee and William Franklin Skinner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Billings, brothers Butler, Alby, Ernest, William, Jesse, Elmer, Charles, Russell and sisters Ruby, Velma and Blanche and a great grandson, J.C. Billings.

She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and received her Master’s Degree and Rank I from Morehead State University. Upon graduation from E.K.U., she made her home in Ashland for 62 years. After 33 years of service (more…)

Danny Cheeks, 47 husband of Penny Owens Cheeks, passed away Sunday April 12, 2015 at the U.K. medical Center. Danny was born September 24, 1967 in Richmond, KY to Judy Ann Agee Cheeks and to the late Bobby Wayne Cheeks.

Danny was a driver for Uncle Charlie’s for many years, he loved to watch the University of Kentucky play basketball and was of the Baptist faith.

Other than his wife Penny and his mother Judy, he is survived by a daughter Kelsey Anne Cheeks of Waco, KY a step son Kenneth Wayne Hall Jr. his maternal grandmother Mattie Louise Agee, and his aunts and uncles Linda (Kenny) Johns, Steve (Helen) Rhodus, Jerry (Emily) Agee, as well as numerous cousins and lots and lots of friends.

Funeral services for Danny will be 1:00 pm Thursday April 16, 2015 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00 pm Wednesday April 15, 2015 at the (more…)

Edna Hudson Crawford, widow of the late St. Elmo Crawford, passed away at Compassionate Care Center, Richmond, KY on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. She was born in Berea, KY on July 29, 1922 to the late Jason W. and Maude Roberson Hudson.

She grew up in Berea, KY, started in college when her oldest daughter was a sophomore and graduated from Berea College in 1963. After graduate work at Eastern Kentucky University, she taught at Silver Creek Elementary School and Foley Middle School. Jack worked as a Farmer and was a retired employee of the Allen Construction Company.

Raymond Christopher “Chris” Grant, 20, tragically lost his life on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Baptist Health in Louisville, KY after having a severe asthma attack at his home. Chris was born in Madison County on July 19, 1994, the son of Leila and Ricky Grant.

Even though Chris’ life has ended so young, he has given the gift of life to so many more people by being an organ donor. When Chris was young he was always inquiring on how to become an organ donor. At a young age, he decided that if his life was ever to end, he wanted others to be given a second chance on life. Chris loved to live life to its fullest. Jonna S. Ladenburger (nee Bush), 56, passed away Thursday March 26, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Ky.

She worked for St. Elizabeth Healthcare in medical records for 24 years. Jonna was a long-time member of Immanuel United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer and received a special award from the United Methodist Women for her outstanding work in the field of missions. She also volunteered for Cinderella’s Closet and Tender Mercies.

She was a homemaker and faithful member of Silver Creek Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She had a beautiful smile that charmed all and was known to many as “Granny Ruth”.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Coleman Devere, and several siblings Lillian Long, Clyde Prather, Burnam Prather, Nathan Prather, Mason Prather, Joe Prather, Agnes Enzweiler, Jane Ivy, Frances Conner, George Helton Prather and Freeman Prather Jr.

Burke Jevon Rhoads, 35, husband of Melissa Suzanne Mason Rhoads, of Sugar Creek Pike, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident while on duty as a officer with the Nicholasville Police Department. He was born July 2, 1979 in West Branch, Iowa, the son of Carolyn Ann Walker and Mark Edward Rhoads.

Burke was a member of St. Raphael Episcopal Church, NPD Honor Guard, a Field Training Officer, Bike Patrol, a Army Veteran and a Nicholasville Police Officer.

In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by three children, Jacquelyn, Bryan and Kevin Rhoads and three sisters, Tera Denial, Tristi Ellis and Miki Brockett.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00PM Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Southland Christian Church with Rev. Johnny Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00AM until 1:00PM and 3:00PM until 8:00PM at Southland Christian Church.

Nicholasville Police Department will serve as Bearers and do honors at the cemetery.

Shirley Nolan Centers, 77, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 at The Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Berea. He was born April 9, 1937, son of the late Augustus and Viola Spivey Centers.

He was a retired employee of Irvine Industries, and member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Shirley was an avid fisherman and outdoors man who enjoyed sharing his catch with family, friends, neighbors and the community by hosting fish fries at his home or a church fellowship. As a young man he enjoyed dirt biking and grouse hunting.
