Jonna S. Ladenburger (nee Bush), 56, passed away Thursday March 26, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Ky.

She worked for St. Elizabeth Healthcare in medical records for 24 years. Jonna was a long-time member of Immanuel United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer and received a special award from the United Methodist Women for her outstanding work in the field of missions. She also volunteered for Cinderella’s Closet and Tender Mercies.

Amber Dawn Webb, 29, mother of Caliey Greer Dunn and Harley Dunn passed away Friday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Ms. Webb was a native of Madison County, a daughter of Timmy and Laverne Biggs Webb. She was a homemaker and a member of the Waco Baptist Church.

Ruth Juanita Prather Devere 89 of Berea passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at St. Joseph Berea Hospital. Ruth was born in Cottonburg, Kentucky to the late Freeman and Nora B. Davis.

She was a homemaker and faithful member of Silver Creek Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She had a beautiful smile that charmed all and was known to many as “Granny Ruth”.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Coleman Devere, and several siblings Lillian Long, Clyde Prather, Burnam Prather, Nathan Prather, Mason Prather, Joe Prather, Agnes Enzweiler, Jane Ivy, Frances Conner, George Helton Prather and Freeman Prather Jr.

Burke Jevon Rhoads, 35, husband of Melissa Suzanne Mason Rhoads, of Sugar Creek Pike, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident while on duty as a officer with the Nicholasville Police Department. He was born July 2, 1979 in West Branch, Iowa, the son of Carolyn Ann Walker and Mark Edward Rhoads.

Burke was a member of St. Raphael Episcopal Church, NPD Honor Guard, a Field Training Officer, Bike Patrol, a Army Veteran and a Nicholasville Police Officer.

In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by three children, Jacquelyn, Bryan and Kevin Rhoads and three sisters, Tera Denial, Tristi Ellis and Miki Brockett.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00PM Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Southland Christian Church with Rev. Johnny Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00AM until 1:00PM and 3:00PM until 8:00PM at Southland Christian Church.

Nicholasville Police Department will serve as Bearers and do honors at the cemetery.

Barbara Jane Gadd Spires, age 80, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at Saint Joseph-East in Lexington, KY. Mrs. Spires was born in Rockcastle County to the late James and Sarah Chasteen Gadd.

She was retired from the Dietary Department at Berea Hospital and a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Shirley Nolan Centers, 77, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 at The Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Berea. He was born April 9, 1937, son of the late Augustus and Viola Spivey Centers.

He was a retired employee of Irvine Industries, and member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Shirley was an avid fisherman and outdoors man who enjoyed sharing his catch with family, friends, neighbors and the community by hosting fish fries at his home or a church fellowship. As a young man he enjoyed dirt biking and grouse hunting.

Geneva Alice Benge Ray, lovingly known as “Jo”, 95, of Berea, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Baptist Health Lexington. She was born August 10, 1919, in Jackson County to John Franklin and Grace Sparks Benge, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was the widow of Charles P. Ray, with whom she owned and operated the former Kingston General Merchandise Store and the Charles P. Ray General Merchandise Store at Bobtown for many years. She was also a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

Belvoir, Virginia native born December 4, 1973, an iron worker (construction) and had been a resident of Berea for the past 11 years, moving here from Grant County.

Survivors include his wife, Crystal Combs Taylor; his parents Keith and Jenny Hillman Taylor; 4 children, Landon Taylor, Austin Taylor Wilson, Jessica Taylor Wilson, Savannah Gabbard; 2 siblings, Kristopher Taylor, Tami (Allen) Thompson; paternal grandfather, Lescal Taylor. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Betty Taylor and his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Nannie Hillman.

He was an iron worker (construction) and had been a resident of Berea for the past 11 years, moving here from Grant County.

Survivors include his wife, Crystal Combs Taylor; his parents Keith and Jenny Hillman Taylor; 4 children, Landon Taylor, Austin Taylor Wilson, Jessica Taylor Wilson, Savannah Gabbard; 2 siblings, Kristopher Taylor, Tami (Allen) Thompson; paternal grandfather, Lescal Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Betty Taylor and his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Nannie Hillman.

In accordance with Jeff’s wishes, he was cremated. A Memorial Service is scheduled at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon, Kentucky.

William Lee “Bill” Howard, age 69, of Berea, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015. He was born in West Liberty, Kentucky on July 4, 1945 to the late Conley and Sadie Morris Howard.

He had been a truck driver and was a member of Liberty Avenue Full Gospel Outreach.

Mr. Howard is survived by his wife, Wanda Allen Howard, seven children: Scott (Jennifer) Howard, Billy (Wilma) Howard, David (Gina) Howard, Kim (Tracey) Howard, Lori (Kevin) Damrell, Angie (J.D.) Woodall, and Jeremy (Leslie) Howard; one sister, Betty Phillips; twenty-one grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Howard was preceded in death by four siblings, Curt Howard, Barbara Jean Howard, Alice Back, and Cora Flack.

Peggy Lou Blundell, 81, a native of Red Lick, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Carmel Hills of Independence, Mo. Peggy was born August 26, 1933, to Jess Irvin and Fairy May Alexander and raised in Berea.

At age 17, she enlisted in the U.S. Army. During her military service, she met her future husband, Robert Keith Blundell, and the couple married June 13, 1953, in Denver, Colo. They lived in the Kansas City, Mo., area, moving to DeKalb, Mo., in 1967.

Cody Austin Dittman age 24 of Berea, passed away Sunday December 28, 2014. Cody was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.

Full military funeral honors will be 2 pm Sunday January 4, 2015 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea with Chaplain Joshua Stine officiating. Burial will follow in the Cates Cemetery in Berea. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6-9 pm at the funeral home.

Kim Jeffery Taylor, age 57, of Louisville KY, formerly of Berea, died Friday Dec. 26, 2014, in Louisville. Kim was born in Asheville NC, to Harold and Ruth Herron Taylor.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, enjoyed listening to music, having books read to him, and the outdoors. One of his favorite past times was going on long walks. Kim was an inspiration to those who knew him.

Kim is survived by his parents Harold and Ruth Taylor of Berea, his maternal grandmother Pauline C. Herron, his siblings Gary (Linda) Taylor, Robyn (Dennis) Ritchie, and Angela (Kyle) Sowers, three nieces, and two nephews.
