Free Cook Out Dinner

The Red Lick Volunteer Fire Department is holding their 2nd annual open house with a free cook out dinner (donation jar by the door). There will also be a dessert auction to help raise money for new turn out gear as their present gear is approaching 10 years old. The event will be Saturday May 23, 2015 at the fire station at 699 Red Lick Road, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. If any one wants to bring a home made dessert to be auctioned off please feel free to do so.

Madison County Conservation District will be offering free tree seedlings to all Madison County residents on Wednesday April 22, 2015 from 9:00 to 3:30.

Species available are: White Pine, Redbud, Mockernut Hickory, White Oak and Black Walnut.

On Saturday, Sept. 6, jeweler and lapidary artist John Leeds, of Richmond, will demonstrate how he cuts and polishes Kentucky agates from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.

Beautiful specimens of banded Kentucky agates have been discovered in Estill, Lee, Powell, Jackson and Rockcastle counties. These agates are called (more…)
