Large Amount of Cash Seized in Traffic Stop

(London, KY.) –- On August 26, 2012, at approximately 7:44 PM the Kentucky State Police Post 11 Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop, on a 2012, Toyota, Sienna, van on I-75 at the 55 mile marker in Rockcastle County.

During the course of the traffic stop officers developed a reasonable suspicion that unlawful activity was occurring and a police K-9 was called to the location. The K-9 was utilized on the outside of the vehicle and gave an alerted at the rear. Officers discovered a total of $13,640.00 in cash hidden in two separate locations within the vehicle.

The DEA was notified with an agent responding to the scene and seizing the cash.

No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is continuing.

Troopers Adam Childress and Mike King made the original traffic stop for traffic violations. They were assisted at the scene by Sergeant Lafe Owens, Trooper Ryan Loudermilk, Trooper Jason McCowan and the DEA.
