James Pope King
James Pope King, 73, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center. Mr. King was born on February 26, 1938 in Madison County, and was the son of Robert and Doshie Singer King, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a welder and was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle, where he was a deacon.
Survivors include: his wife, Judith Ballinger King; one daughter, Teresa Smith, of Hamilton, OH; four sons, James Roland King, of Richmond, Arthur King, Daniel King, and David Gamel, all of Hamilton, OH; three stepsons, Strother (Lorraine) Jones, Darrel (Libby) Jones, and Barry Jones, all of Richmond; one stepdaughter, Terri Brandenburg, of Richmond; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert King Jr., of Richmond.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one son, Cecil King; three brothers, Albert King, Billy King, and Nathan King; and three sisters, Beulah Short, Ruby Bailey, and Mollie Fredricks.
Funeral services for James Pope King will be held at 1:00 p.m. on December 1, 2011 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Bro. Rickey Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00- 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell.
Pallbearers will be Art King, Matthew King, Donnie King, Michael Peters, Jimmy Sabolcik, and Strother Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Bailey, Darrel Jones, Greg Moberly, and Duane Moberly.
Marilyn (Kavanaugh) Forshee
Formerly of Richmond — Marilyn (Kavanaugh) Forshee, 59, formerly of Richmond, Ky., passed away at the home of her daughter in Louisville, Ky., on November 25. She was an accountant and last served in the position of executive director of the Housing Authority in Okolona, Miss. She was preceded in death by: her mother, Callie Kavanaugh; an infant sister, Jacqueline Kavanaugh; and a brother William Kavanaugh Jr. She is survived by: her daughters, Rachelle (Alphonso) Nichols and Asherra (Muai-Aakhu) Meskheniten; her sons, John (Angela) Thomas, Jr. and Tremayne Thomas; a brother, Stephen (Linda) Kavanaugh; father, William (Evelyn) Kavanaugh Sr.; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild, and a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, with a graveside service immediately following at 30093 Gates Drive, Okolona, Miss.
