KSP Charges Madison Co. Man With Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography

On February 25, 2015, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by Post 7- Richmond, arrested Frankie H. Hardy, 29, for charges related to possession and distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.

The Berea Police Department have received word about a phone scam from some of the local banks. People have been receiving phone calls from a number with an 859 area code. The caller states he is with the IRS and is calling to collect money, and asked for payment over the phone.

Please do not give out any personal or banking information over the phone, and feel free to call the police deaprtment with any questions.

Identity Theft Charge: On 02/24/2015, police charged John M. Coyle, Neeley Street, Berea, for identity theft as he tried to avoid apprehension on outstanding arrest warrants.

At approximately 4:00 P.M., an officer was dispatched to Tractor Supply Company, 856 Eastern Bypass, in response to a reported shoplifting incident. Theft of Services: On 02/22/2015 Officers were called to the apartments at 250 Herndon Street in reference theft of electricity. Berea Utilities confirmed that the electric had been turned off on one of the apartments and the occupants were seen tampering with the electric meter. They switched out meters with another apartment and turned their electric back on.

Officers arrested 37 year old Jerel Smith of Berea KY and 39 year old William Smith of Berea KY. They were both charged with Theft of Services.

Drug Arrests: On February 13, 2015, police charged Austin L. Smith, age 29, Clay Drive, and Kristen S. Saylor, age 28, Herndon Lane, Berea, for drug trafficking after following up on a complaint.

At approximately 8:33 A.M., officers were dispatched to a local hotel to investigate a complaint of a male harassing guests and offering drugs for sale. Upon arrival, officers met with the desk clerk who identified the room in which the male was staying. Officers proceeded to the room in question and were greeted at the door by Smith. Upon detaining Smith, officers searched his person and recovered a syringe and $5900.00 in cash.

Saylor was discovered in the bathroom and was detained. A search of the hotel room resulted in the recovery of a small amount of heroin, marijuana, another syringe, and drug paraphernalia.

Parole Violation/Theft Arrest: On 02/20/2015, police arrested Paul M. Isaacs, age 32, no address given, Richmond, on the strength of a parole violation warrant and two theft warrants.

On or about 03/07/2013, Isaacs was convicted in the Madison Circuit Court for Intimidating a Participant in the Legal Process, Theft by Unlawful Taking Under $500, and Bailjumping 1st Degree. He was sentenced to two years imprisonment.

On 05/13/2013, Isaacs was paroled.

With the incoming inclement weather we are requesting that citizens who live in the city limits of Berea, NOT leave any vehicles parked on any roadway or street. This will allow our Street Department to plow our streets and roadways to clear much faster and safer. Clear roadways will allow us to serve our citizens in a more effective manner.

9 Arrested in Madison County Drug Round-Up

On Thursday, February 12, 2015, nine people were arrested in Madison County after being indicted for drug related offenses. The roundup was conducted by the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, Madison County Drug Taskforce, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and Richmond Police Department.

The arrests are the result of a four month drug investigation that was conducted last year in Madison County.
